Carlos Alberto dos Santos Marreiros,

Born in Macau in 1957, he studied in Macau, Portugal, Germany and Sweden.
Returned to his hometown in 1983.
Professional architect and planner, Partner and Director
of MAA – Marreiros Arquitectos Associados and East & West Project
& Design Ltd. In the last 29 years of his architectural practice he
has planned, designed and built close to 200 buildings, in Macau, Hong
Kong, People’s Republic of China, Portugal and Australia. As an
architect, artist and creative designer he has won many local, national
and international awards. His works are widely recognized and internationally
published.
Since 1984 has been Guest Professor in Graduate and Master
Degree Programme at the ETHM, University of East Asia, Macau/ University
of Macau, Tongji State University of Shanghai, International Opened University
of Asia - Macau, Institute of European Studies of Macau and the University
of Hong Kong. He has given lectures also at the Universidade Técnica
of Lisbon, Tsinghua University Beijing, Universidade Lusófona of
Lisbon, University of California / Berkeley, Politecnico di Milano, Italy,
among others.
As an artist he participated in 16 solo shows and over 25 group exhibitions
around the world. He also made illustrations for 15 authors and over 50
books, published in Chinese, Portuguese and English.
He was founder, Art Director and Deputy Director of the “RC –
Review of Culture”, published since 1987 and President of Cultural
Institute of Macau Government, from 1989 to 1992.
Main founder and President of Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de
Macau (CAC), since 1985. President of the Board of Directors (1999-2001),
President of the Members General Assembly (2002- 2005) and President of
the Supervisory Council (2006-2008) of The Architects Association of Macau
(AAM), President of the General Assembly of the Macau Juvenile Association
for the Study of Chinese and Portuguese Culture, elected member of the
Chief Executive Election Committee of MSAR - Macau Special Administrative
Region (1999, 2004 and 2009). Delegate Member of the Council of ARCASIA
- Architects Regional Council of Asia (1999 - 2005) and Deputy Chairman
of ARCASIA for Region C – PR China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong
SAR and Macau SAR (2003 – 2004).
Member of the General Council of the Environment Council of the MSAR Government
(since 2000); Member of the Consultive Council of Culture of the MSAR
Government (since 2000); Member of the Consultive Council for the Renewal
of Old District of MSAR Government; Member of the Consultive Council for
Accreditation of Architects and Engineers; Trustee of the Macau Foundation
(since 2001) and Member of Cultural Industry Council (2010) of Macau SAR
Government.
Is currently the President of the Fellow Members Council of the Architects
Association of Macau, Honorary President of the Macau Construction Association
and Director General of Albergue SCM – ALBcreativeLAB. He has been
involved in the leadership level of various organizations, including professional,
community services, culture and arts.
